Psychological Effects of Scented Candles

Scented candles create pleasing psychological effects from the ambient aroma of fragrances. This is often referred to as “aroma-chology”.

The aroma from a lighted scented candle is released through the evaporation of the fragrance from the hot wax pool and from the solid candle itself.

Here there are some effects of soy candles scented with different types of essential oils:

  • Basil
Basil will promote alertness, concentration and will create a positive attitude. Basil scent will stimulate your nervous system, relieves migraines and help digestion.

  • Jasmine
Jasmine is the most uplifting of all essential oils. Jasmine scent is a very relaxing and anti depressant and is very useful for calming tension. Jasmine stimulates your alertness, builds energy and helps to activate the immune system.

  • Lavender
Lavender scent will help to relieve headaches, insomnia and can be used when you have problems with anxiety, depression and motion sickness.

  • Lemon
Lemon is well known for its stimulating effect. The Japanese employers use lemon scent to improve the productivity of their workers. Next time you have to concentrate or study burn a lemon scented soy candle! Lemon scent also helps to repel insects.

  • Rosemary
Rosemary is effective in arthritis, bronchitis and colds. Rosemary scent has a placid effect on the nervous system and brings clarity of thought.

Here are some scents that correlate directly with learning:

  • Lemon and jasmine

scents enhance our cognitive performance. Doing a hard crossword puzzle

  •  Peppermint

scents work just like lemon scents – but for the muscles other than those between our ears

  • Jasmine

improves the quality of sleep, but doesn’t help you fall asleep any faster. If you smell jasmine while sleeping your mental performance will be improved the next day. You’ll also be less anxious when you wake up.

  •  Rosemary and grapefruit

Rosemary also makes our long-term memory perform at its best.

  • Cinnamon-vanilla

smells and creativity seem to be linked.

  •  Orange

smells reduce anxiety – even in dentists’ offices – a place where almost everyone is on edge.

  • Cedar smells reduce tension – and so do

  • lavender

smell reduce tension

  • Vanilla scents are so good at relaxing people that they’ve even been used to help people stay calm during CAT scans and similar medical tests.

Other  wonderful soy candles for stimulating for learning are:

Frankincense. This oil stimulates the limbic system of the brain as well as the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands. It has also been used to relieve depression.

Rosemary. This helps clarify the mind and emotions.

Peppermint. This is used to awaken the mind and heighten the senses. It is one of the best oils to boost energy, creativity and learning skills.

The sense of smell is one of the most powerful senses, and the influence of fragrance on human behavior and response is well known. Because of this the popularity of scented candles continues to grow.

Scented candles are great for any room in the house, but unscented candles are best for dining. Scented candles can conflict with the aroma and enjoyment of your food.
